Understanding your chakras
A chakra is the Indian name for an energy focal point at the human body’s energy field. Wherever there is a nerve plexus, there is a chakra. In other words, wherever in the human body there is a large number of nerves crisscrossing each other much like an important station where various different rail tracks crisscross each other, there will be an energy focal point called a chakra. There are many such chakras in the energy field of the body, but for our purpose and study, we are concerned with seven major chakras which are reflections of our thinking patterns.
So okay, we say; there are chakras. How does that concern us? It concerns us because when we get stuck in certain issues in life, when our relationships are not as good or meaningful as we would want them to be, when our money channels seem to be blocked, when our health seems to be troubling us despite all our efforts to rectify the problem, when we feel we are stagnating… it is a good time to consider our chakras and what they can reveal about our lives. If we understand our chakras and the language they speak, we have won more than 80% of our inner battles. When we are troubled in any area of our life, we need to find the root cause of that trouble. For instance if we are repeatedly having problems with relationships, going from one relationship into another will not solve our problem. We need to know why it is happening. Let me say this differently. Suppose we experience pain in a certain area of the body. Taking a pain killer may give us temporary relief from the pain which will eventually return; the pain killer does not remove the cause of the pain. When we remove the cause of the pain, then we are removing the pain for all time. So also, when we understand our chakras, we understand why things happen the way they do to us, why we experience certain states of being – be it anger, or sadness or fright. This knowledge helps us to release the blocks which have stopped us from achieving whatever we have wished to achieve, which has prevented us being who we really desire to be.
The seven major chakras are linked with the endocrine system. Our thoughts and long term thinking patterns affect the working of the endocrine system. For example, someone who is unable to express himself/herself to the world, who is unable to understand the world’s communication with himself/herself, may discover eventually that there is a thyroid imbalance taking place within his/her body. Now here is a truly amazing fact. If this individual were to change his/her thinking patterns, that thyroid imbalance would eventually correct itself. We are NOT suggesting here that this form of healing should be done. Those who have physical ailments should continue with the medication prescribed for them by their physicians or doctors.
